Recently, Revere Control Systems contacted EIC Solutions because their client in the textile industry, who supplies linens to a global hotel chain, required human-machine interface (HMI) consoles. They needed an enclosure large enough to house their internal remote I/O subpanel, a 19”W computer monitor, keyboard, mouse, and KVM extender, while leaving enough space for pushbuttons and sensors. The HMI workstation required easy access to the keyboard and mouse for production line setup, changes, and monitoring. These processes needed to be completed without exposing the internal electrical components to the plant floor environment which is subject to lint dust, peroxide, and routine water wash-down.
Protecting the HMI consoles was of the utmost importance because they serve as a complete operational interface for three major production lines: The pre-production line which controls prep and bleaching of fabric, and two finishing lines that take the fabric to a run-through oven and prepares the material for packaging. The overall enclosure design allowed enough extra space to install internal subpanels for additional equipment mounting. The NEMA 4X construction provided proper seals around the keyboard, which was critical for Revere’s textile customer. The FSE-070-4X had the form, fit, and function the customer specified for their HMI consoles.
