EIC Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer of thermoelectric air conditioners, electronic enclosures and transit cases, has obtained US and Canadian patents for its full line of Defender™ Series Thermoelectrically Air Conditioned Transit Cases. The cases protect electronics from impact, shock vibration, and also from dust, moisture and corrosion. To assure safe operating temperatures for sensitive electronics and other case contents, a built in air conditioner cools the case interior maintaining optimum temperatures regardless of the outside environment.
EIC's customer is a well-known global provider of industrial equipment, machinery, instruments, apparatus and supplies. The customer serves clients in the petroleum extraction/refining, mining and hydrocarbon industries. EIC was presented with the need for cost-effective air conditioning of the enclosures to be used to protect electronics in drilling rig equipment. Among the types of equipment being used were mud-pumps, drilling motors, and TDSUs (top dry systems units). The electronics and circuitry in the equipment is occasionally exposed to explosive atmospheres requiring Class 1, Division 2 products. Typical Class I locations include petroleum refineries, gasoline storage and dispensing areas, spray finishing areas, aircraft hangars and fuel servicing areas.
EIC Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer of thermoelectric air conditioners, electronic enclosures and transit cases, has obtained NEMA 4X certification for the full line of its ThermoTEC Class I, Division 2 Series thermoelectric air conditioners for hazardous locations. Previously, only the 400 BTU model could be used for both indoor and outdoor protection against environmental factors such as the windblown dust and water (rain, sleet, snow, and hose). The 800 and 1500 BTU hazardous location models were rated NEMA 12 and were for indoor use only -- basically in applications that did not require washdowns.
EIC Solutions, Inc., a leading manufacturer of thermoelectric air conditioners, electronic enclosures and transit cases, has introduced the ThermoTEC 145 Series 1500 BTU Military Grade (MG) Air Conditioner. The lightweight thermoelectric cooling unit is designed specifically for use in transit cases for mobile military and defense applications.
In part two of our blog, we will share with you some of the specific ways EIC Solutions air-conditioners are being used daily. Since 1988, EIC Solutions has worked alongside engineers, contractors and systems integrators for the U.S. military, commercial and industrial manufacturers. Leveraging a complete line of compact, lightweight, solid state thermoelectric coolers for transit cases, electronic cabinets and computer enclosures, EIC ensures that the electronics and electrical controls that these industries rely on operate without failure in harsh environments when it matters most.
Today’s military, commercial and industrial manufacturers have increased the demand for advanced electronics and electrical controls that are designed to operate without failure in harsh environments. Ensuring that these electronics run efficiently and effectively has become an ever greater challenge, which is why EIC Solutions has developed air conditioned transit cases and air conditioned enclosures that protect and cool sensitive electronics when it matters most.
A leading multi-skilled security contractor/integrator was approached by a municipal transportation company to provide secure, protective enclosures for NVR equipment (network video recording). To enhance the safety of bus patrons, the NVR systems are used for video surveillance at bus stations throughout the city of San Antonio, TX. The transportation company stipulated that the enclosures must be low-to-zero maintenance, tamper-proof and capable of maintaining enclosure contents and recommended safe operating temperatures year round. The enclosures were to be used in an outdoor environment and would be pole-mounted.
EIC's Defender™ Series Clamshell Style Transit Cases are rugged & dependable cooling systems designed to protect electronic equipment in the harshest environments. Designed to meet the demands of the U.S. armed forces and Department of Homeland Security on land, in the air, and at sea - protecting their communication, encryption, surveillance and other electronic gear from damaging heat, dust, moisture, and corrosion.
EIC Solutions, Inc., offers a heating option for EIC thermoelectric air conditioners used in their electronic/electrical enclosures. For applications in deserts and other environments with wide variations in temperature, the addition of the EIC heater assures protection of devices and electronics that are sensitive not only to heat and cold, but also to condensation and the resulting danger of corrosion. The heater is fully integrated into the air conditioning unit and control system -- no dimensional changes to the transit case or enclosure are necessary.
In a newly constructed mid-town parking garage on Long Island NY, the local parking authority planned to install recording and monitoring equipment for security purposes. The electronics and communications/control systems were to be housed in tamper-proof enclosures with internal temperature control. Because temperatures in the parking garage could reach 105°F during summer months, and plunge to zero in the dead of winter, both cooling and heating capability were needed. The cooling/heating systems were to be low energy consumption units. Additionally, the enclosures were required to keep out moisture, dust and dirt. The parking authority tasked the contractor for the project with the job of sourcing enclosures that fit the bill.
