Matrix Automation originally contacted EIC Solutions because they needed to environmentally control the PC pedestals they had built for a client. This industrial pedestal holds a PC and touch-screen monitor that run the customer’s automated can and container manufacturing machinery. The system communicates with control modules which trigger spray guns to apply a food-grade epoxy inside cans and containers on a production line. This process eliminates the metallic taste when eating or drinking from a can.
Because plant floors can experience fluctuating temperatures, it was crucial that the PC pedestal was environmentally controlled. This would ensure uninterrupted functionality by keeping the temperature of the PC within an acceptable operating range. Matrix Automation was looking for a robust cooling solution, with a small form factor that could easily be mounted to the side of the PC pedestal.
