GreenPowerMonitor developed a tool specifically for solar parks that utilize SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems for remote monitoring and control. This system allows control over generation assets, and displays data to illustrate the solar park’s status in real time. The SCADA system requires industrial servers to be installed at remote locations that are exposed to extreme environments, from the high elevation ranch lands of Colorado to humid, hot lowlands of Arkansas. GPM’s control system must be of the highest reliability in order instantaneously modulate the output of the solar power plant to match the demands of the grid. The continuous functionality of the industrial server is crucial to support the control system. Housing this equipment in an outdoor control room would extend the projects timeline due to the costly permits required and increase construction time.
