EIC Solutions’ Commitment to Being CFC-Free

Since 1988, EIC Solutions has specialized in the design and manufacturing of Thermoelectric Air Conditioners that are both extremely efficient and environmentally friendly, using exactly zero refrigerants and toxic CFCs.

Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) is a synthetic substance used in the refrigeration cycle of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Chlorofluorocarbons are classified as CFC-11 gases with high global warming potential and the capability of living in our atmosphere for an average of 52 years. Although efforts have been made to phase-out CFC usage within the thermal management industry, growing consumption has contributed to ozone depletion in the stratosphere, perpetuating climate change. The long-term impact of these persistent emissions pose a serious threat to global efforts towards ozone recovery.

As most manufacturers within the refrigeration and air conditioning sector continue to rely on CFCs, not only do they ignore hazardous environmental practices, but they also disregard the negative consequences imposed on the customers they serve. With CFC-phaseout initiatives well underway, manufacturers supplying consumers within the food processing and military and defense industries using CFCs for their commercial cooling systems are engaging in costly and outdated business practices. Adopters of CFC-free cooling options are contributing to the global movement and long-term health benefits resulting from greener technologies.

While EIC Solutions does offer traditional cooling solutions, our focus for the last 30 years has been manufacturing CFC-free Thermoelectric Air Conditioners. By producing products with non-toxic components, our efforts allow our customers to contribute to the reduction of health risks associated with excessive UV exposure as a result of CFCs depleting the ozone layer, while continuing to protect and preserve environmental ecosystems around the globe.

Our dedication to sustainable manufacturing proved valuable when contracted by Gulf Coast Cabling (GCC) for a project involving a greenhouse application. Considering that commercial greenhouses utilize high-tech production facilities in order to protect plants from harsh external environmental conditions, housing plants in a climate-controlled environment results in sustainable, high yield cultivation.

In order to achieve optimal plant growth the air temperature, relative humidity and vapor pressure need to be closely monitored and maintained. Greenhouses are commonly controlled by computers and sensitive electronic equipment that are unable to withstand such conditions. Having used EIC Solutions for past projects, GCC knew our sustainable products would be the ideal solution for their greenhouse project. After reviewing the application requirements, EIC Solutions, Inc. recommended the Protector™ Series Prepackaged Wall-Mount Air Conditioned Enclosures, with integral 400BTU, NEMA 4X, thermoelectric air conditioners.

By implementing sustainable CFC-free technologies, EIC Solutions, Inc. is capable of specializing in the design and manufacturing of thermoelectric cooling systems, air-conditioned electronic enclosures, and transit cases for a wide range of industries. With efforts toward mitigating our global footprint, our CFC-free products have been used in a variety of enclosure cooling applications involving the protection of electronic equipment, both indoors and outdoors. EIC Solutions strives to provide the best products, resources, and tools to help customers protect their investments in sensitive electronics, while simultaneously promoting a cleaner, greener future.
